By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Virginia Homeschool Day

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to excellence in education and public policies that offer options to parents in pursuit of that excellence; and

WHEREAS, home education provides families with the opportunity to cultivate and influence the moral values of their children while also tailoring academics to uniquely match the individual needs of each student; and

WHEREAS, parents deserve to have the head seat at the table in the upbringing, education, and care of their own children; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth recognizes the sacrifices and efforts of family members in homeschooling their children to become whole, empowered, and educated adults; and

WHEREAS, by fostering and encouraging homeschooling in Virginia, the number of home-schooled students has grown to over 58,000 according to Virginia Department of Education published statistics; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Homeschool Day recognizes and celebrates the contributions of homeschooling families, parents and children alike, and the quality of education found in our Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize June 2, 2023, as HOMESCHOOL DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
