By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Massey Cancer Center Day

WHEREAS, Massey Cancer Center, headquartered in Richmond, was established in 1974 at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University and offers first access to the latest, advanced cancer trials and treatments; and

WHEREAS, Massey Cancer Center is the only cancer center in the Richmond metropolitan area and one of only two in the state designated by the National Cancer Institute with its highest recognition as a Comprehensive Cancer Center for scientific leadership, depth and breadth of research, effective community outreach, and cancer research training and education; and

WHEREAS, Massey Cancer Center has a statewide footprint with satellite offices and research, education, and community outreach throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Massey Cancer Center provides compassionate, comprehensive, and customized care to approximately 16,000 patients per year administering chemotherapy and radiation treatments, surgical procedures, bone marrow transplants, and CAR T-cell therapies; and

WHEREAS, over 250 scientists and physicians at Massey Cancer Center collaborate on extensive research to discover new ways to prevent, diagnose, treat, and control cancer; and

WHEREAS, Massey Cancer Center is a cornerstone in the Commonwealth providing best-in-class healthcare while working tirelessly to imagine a future without cancer;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize June 8, 2023, as MASSEY CANCER CENTER DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
