WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey’s list of personal achievements is extensive, including mother, grandmother, master swimmer, certified scuba diver, champion fisherman, licensed pilot, and breast cancer survivor; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey’s professional accomplishments are equally impressive as a licensed real estate agent and CEO of McLeskey, one of the region’s largest high quality real estate developers and property managers, founded by her late husband over 60 years ago; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey continues to honor F. Wayne McLeskey, Jr.’s love, legacy, and vision for Hampton Roads through the company’s deeply rooted real estate influence in diversified holdings including residential living options, commercial projects, a mobile home community, marinas, charter boats, aircraft, and undeveloped land; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey currently holds positions on the boards of the Military Aviation Museum, the Virginia Aviation Board, the Navy Seal Museum, the Neptune Festival, Towne Bank, Operation Blessing, Sentara Brock Cancer Center (home to the McLeskey Comprehensive Breast Center), Virginia Beach Boat Church, and the F. Wayne McLeskey Memorial Marlin Open; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey’s faithful past service on the boards of the Virginia Aquarium, Regent University, GO Virginia, the Sandler Center, Achievable Dream, Virginia Beach Community Organization Grants, Virginia Beach SPCA, and numerous other distinguished organizations further exemplifies her steadfast devotion to encouraging progress and excellence within her cherished community; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey is a competent and trustworthy leader whose key to success is her commitment to servant leadership, the Golden Rule, and the basic principles of a positive attitude, humility, compassion, faith, hard work, empathy, and teamwork; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey lives out her love for God and people through her philanthropic work with organizations like Wine, Women, and Fishing, Crush Cancer, and the McLeskey Family Foundation, among many others; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey continues to make an indelible mark on Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach, and the Commonwealth by demonstrating her God-given strength as a business leader, community supporter, philanthropist, champion for women in business, and personal friend and counselor to many women battling breast cancer; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl McLeskey is a woman whose strong spirit, Christian leadership, integrity, energy, and commitment to her community helps strengthen the Spirit of Virginia making it the best place to live, work, and raise a family;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize CHERYL P. McLESKEY as the 71^ST FIRST CITIZEN OF VIRGINIA BEACH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
