By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Community Health Center Week

WHEREAS, the health and well-being of all Virginians is of utmost importance to the prosperity and livelihood of our Commonwealth’s families and communities; and

WHEREAS, Virginia's Community Health Centers deliver high quality, cost-effective and accessible primary and preventative care, including access to lifesaving medications, to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay; and

WHEREAS, currently there are more than 150 Community Health Center sites across the Commonwealth, serving more than 360,000 Virginians; and

WHEREAS, Community Health Centers in the Commonwealth employ more than 2,500 health care professionals across all disciplines, and non-clinical support staff, as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team designed to treat the whole patient; as well as coordinating care and managing chronic disease, while at the same time reducing unnecessary, avoidable, and wasteful use of health resources; and

WHEREAS, as locally governed and operated non-profit organizations, Community Health Centers also serve as critical economic engines helping to power local economies by creating jobs; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes Virginia's Community Health Centers, their staff, board members, and all those responsible for the long-standing success and critical care;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize August 6-12, 2023, as COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
