By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Chronic Disease Day

WHEREAS, chronic disease affects thousands of individuals throughout Virginia and millions throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, chronic diseases and conditions such as some forms of heart disease, stroke, cancer type 2 diabetes, obesity, and arthritis are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems; and

WHEREAS, widespread awareness, increased community engagement, and ongoing advocacy is critical to improving patients’ quality of life and access to care; and

WHEREAS, Chronic Disease Day is intended to raise awareness and advocate for patient-first policies throughout the Commonwealth and the nation, and it promotes actionable resources to reduce individual risk and lower the rate of chronic disease in America;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize July 10, 2023, as CHRONIC DISEASE DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
