By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Aortic Disease Awareness Day

WHEREAS, aortic disease is a significant health concern affecting millions of individuals worldwide; and

WHEREAS, aortic disease encompasses a range of conditions, including aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections, and other disorders affecting the aorta, the main artery of the human body; and

WHEREAS, aortic disease is often underdiagnosed and leads to life-threatening complications if left untreated; and

WHEREAS, raising awareness about aortic disease can promote early detection, timely intervention, and improved outcomes for individuals affected by this condition; and

WHEREAS, increased awareness can contribute to advancing research, improving treatment options, and ultimately reducing the burden of aortic disease on individuals, families, and society as a whole; and

WHEREAS, citizens, healthcare organizations, community groups, and educational institutions are encouraged to observe the day by engaging in activities that promote awareness, education, and support for individuals affected by aortic disease, and to disseminate information about the disease, its risk factors, symptoms, and available resources for prevention and treatment;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize September 19, 2023, as AORTIC DISEASE AWARENESS DAY in the Commonwealth of Virginia and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
