2017 Women's Lung Health Week


WHEREAS, lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of women in the U.S.; and

WHEREAS, the lung cancer death rate in women has almost doubled over the past 37 years; and

WHEREAS, advocacy and increased awareness will increase the availability of quality treatment for women with lung cancer and other lung diseases and will save lives; and

WHEREAS, LUNG FORCE, the national movement led by the American Lung Association, unites women to stand together with strength and determination to lead the fight against lung cancer and for lung health; and

WHEREAS, Virginia is committed to increasing research and awareness of lung cancer;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize May 8-12, 2017, as WOMEN’S LUNG HEALTH WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
