WHEREAS, according to Whisky Magazine’s 2017 World Whiskies Awards, Virginia owns the title of World's Best Bourbon and Best American Single Malt Whisky; and

WHEREAS, Virginia distillers practice sustainability by recycling or repositioning byproduct waste materials from production to local farms for animal feed and other uses; and

WHEREAS, Virginia’s distilled spirits industry is performing better than ever, with more than $6 million dollars in sales for FY 2016 – a 157% percent increase since FY 2013; and

WHEREAS, travelers can experience the state with taste by pairing the Virginia spirits with Virginia beef, ham, cheeses, peanuts and more created in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, in 2017, Virginia Tourism Corporation, in partnership with the Virginia Distillers Association, local tourism offices, local planning district commissions, and private partners, began working together to create the Virtual Virginia Spirits Trail which will allow visitors to easily plan their trips to Virginia’s distilleries and other cultural destinations spread out over eight regions; and

WHEREAS, Virginia distillers and all agencies of Virginia state government encourage the safe and responsible consumption of all alcoholic beverages; and
