Since the beginning of the McAuliffe administration, 718 economic development deals have been closed in Virginia with more than $12.60 billion in capital investment, which is more than any previous governor in the first 29 months in office.   1. Governor McAuliffe leads first community roundtable to discuss his historic restoration of rights order

    • Governor McAuliffe had a great Restoration of Rights Community Roundtable at Trinity Family Life Center in Richmond on Tuesday. He was joined by Secretary of the Commonwealth, Kelly Thomasson, community stakeholders, and Virginians whose rights were restored through his historic order in April. The event was the first of several roundtables the Governor will hold in communities across the Commonwealth.
    • New data from Public Policy Polling shows that an overwhelming majority of Virginians support Governor McAuliffe’s historic order:  “Terry McAuliffe's executive order restoring felon voting rights is proving to be very popular- 65% of voters support it to only 26% who are opposed. It has overwhelming support from both Democrats (85/10) and independents (61/29) and even Republicans (43/45) are pretty evenly divided”

  2. Governor McAuliffe signs House Bill 858, creating the Virginia International Trade Corporation.

    • The legislation will enable Virginia companies to enhance their sale of products and services around the globe. VITC will increase the value of Virginia’s exports by $2 billion dollars and create at least 18,000 trade-supported jobs by 2020.

  4. First Lady celebrates National and Virginia Pollinator Week

    • “We are doing everything we can to encourage the cultivation of bee populations to protect biodiversity in the Commonwealth,” said First Lady McAuliffe. “According to a survey done by the Bee Informed Partnership, beekeepers across the United States lost 44 percent of their colonies in the past year. Families can take small steps at their homes that will go a long way in restoring and protecting our precious pollinators – Virginia’s smallest livestock – such as planting gardens or installing window boxes. Whether you live in an urban or rural setting, every Virginian can do something to attract, protect, or increase the Commonwealth’s pollinator species.”

  5. Governor McAuliffe announces $5 million in Vibrant Community Initiative funding for Montgomery County and City of Richmond

    • “The Vibrant Community Initiative channels vital funding to affordable housing in central Virginia, which in turn fosters economic growth and job opportunities for communities that need it most,” said Governor McAuliffe. “We want to ensure that every Virginian has the opportunities to succeed and this starts with investments at the local level in housing, schools, and infrastructure.
