Young Audiences of Virginia 60th Anniversary Celebration Week

WHEREAS, Young Audiences – Arts for Learning – Virginia is celebrating 60 years of operation, first bringing arts-in-education programs to Virginia in 1955; and

WHEREAS, Young Audiences of Virginia is the leading provider of high-quality arts-in-education programming throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, impacting 10 million students in the past 60 years; and

WHEREAS, Young Audiences of Virginia offers a variety of arts performances and workshops grounded in core curriculum, residencies for children of all ages, and professional development in arts-integration techniques that improve students’ literacy skills, motivation to read, and ability to learn; and

WHEREAS, Young Audiences of Virginia implements programs utilizing visual arts, dance, theatre, music, and storytelling into social studies, language arts, science, math, and multicultural curricula, all aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning; and

WHEREAS, Young Audiences of Virginia makes it possible for students to experience high-quality arts programming; and

WHEREAS, March 15-21, 2015, is celebrated as National Young Audiences-Arts for Learning-week across the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize March 15-21, 2015, as YOUNG AUDIENCES OF VIRGINIA 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
