Virginia Physician Assistants Week


WHEREAS, a physician assistant (PA) is academically and clinically prepared to practice medicine in all settings and specialties, including the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, assisting in surgery, and prescribing medication; and

WHEREAS, PAs are often the first point of contact for many patients, helping them understand medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments, as well as offering guidance to healthy living; and  

WHEREAS, PAs provide affordable and accessible patient-centered healthcare, ensuring quality care for patients across the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Physician Assistants Week recognizes the dedication and contributions PAs make in patients’ lives and their vital role the Virginia healthcare system;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 6-12, 2016, as VIRGINIA PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
