Virginia Emergency Nurse Week


WHEREAS, nurses serve a critical role in patient preparedness at the local, state, and national level when it comes to providing direct care during accidents; and

WHEREAS, emergency nurses specialize in the assessment, intervention, and stabilization of illnesses and trauma patients; and

WHEREAS, due to the range of medical conditions that may require urgent treatment, emergency nurses are specially trained and qualified to treat both general and specific health issues; and

WHEREAS, emergency nurses encourage and promote professionalism among peers in the field and endeavor to increase the skills and knowledge of emergency nurses; and

WHEREAS, emergency nurses serve the Commonwealth of Virginia with a steadfast commitment to excellence, educating the public about the prevention and treatment of injuries and illnesses; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Emergency Nurse Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of Virginia’s emergency nurses;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 5-11, 2014, as VIRGINIA EMERGENCY NURSE WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
