Virginia Drinking Water Week 2016


WHEREAS, every day, millions of Virginians turn on the tap to find unlimited access to safe, clean water; and

WHEREAS, Virginia’s streams, lakes, rivers, watersheds, and other clean water sources must be protected to maintain the health of our citizens, wildlife, and fisheries; and

WHEREAS, protecting Virginia’s water supply and other natural resources is crucial for our environment and future generations; and

WHEREAS, elected officials at each level of government, as well as businesses and citizens throughout our Commonwealth, are responsible for ensuring that all Virginians have access to clean drinking water; and

WHEREAS, it is the duty of all Virginians to preserve our supply of clean drinking water and obey laws that protect Virginia’s water supply for our use and for Virginia’s diverse ecosystem;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize May 1 - 7, 2016, as VIRGINIA DRINKING WATER WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
