Virginia Distance Learning Week


WHEREAS, distance learning is a vital part of education across the Commonwealth of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, online delivery creates new educational opportunities for Virginia’s schools, colleges, and universities, as well as improved options for ongoing employee training in public and private sectors; and

WHEREAS, the adoption and increased utilization of online learning expands the availability of challenging, high-quality curriculums to students in both rural and urban areas; and

WHEREAS, distance learning strives to serve as a catalyst for the formation of partnerships across education, business, healthcare, and government; and

WHEREAS, by putting existing, widely-available technologies to use, distance learning promotes educational equity and expands access to continued education to more Virginians;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize November 7-11, 2016, as DISTANCE LEARNING WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
