Virginia Career Week

WHEREAS, career awareness and planning are very important to all young citizens in the Commonwealth when choosing a career of interest that will lead to gainful employment and personal fulfillment; and

WHEREAS, career information, further education, and training are essential to preparing young citizens to explore and understand the skills needed to be successful in a specific career; and

WHEREAS, all students should have access to information about career options; and

WHEREAS, building a new Virginia economy depends on our youth being prepared to meet the demands for a high skilled workforce; and

WHEREAS, local business and industry volunteers play critical roles in helping schools raise awareness about various career paths; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for students to students to understand the qualifications necessary for high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand jobs;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 12-18, 2014, as VIRGINIA CAREER WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
