Sixth Annual Bengali Festival


WHEREAS, the Sixth Annual Bengali Festival celebrates the rich heritage of Bangladeshi culture; and

WHEREAS, hosted by Arlington County and Prio Bangla, the Bengali Festival offers a chance for all Virginians to experience the social and cultural traditions celebrated by Virginia’s Bengali community; and

WHEREAS, the Bengali Festival offers an array of traditional Bengali foods and entertainment, including handcrafts, arts, jewelry, and clothing; and

WHEREAS, the Bengali Festival is an opportunity for citizens to participate in cultural exchange and to celebrate the large Bangladeshi-American community in Virginia, whose abilities and contributions strengthen Virginia’s economy; and

WHEREAS, the theme for this year’s celebration is “Let’s Celebrate the Cultural Diversity,” which emphasizes the importance of embracing culture and the richness diversity brings to life experiences;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize September 23, 2017, as the SIXTH ANNUAL BENGALI FESTIVAL in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
