National Veterinary Technician Week


WHEREAS, veterinary technicians are critical to the day-to-day function of veterinary practices and play a vital role in preserving animal health and welfare; and

WHEREAS, veterinary technicians work to promote public health, and nurture the bond between an animals and their human companions; and

WHEREAS, through the use of scientific knowledge and skills, veterinary technicians protect an animals and prevent or relieve animal suffering; and

WHEREAS, veterinary technicians often work behind the scenes, in animal clinics and hospitals providing nursing care, surgical assistance, radiography, and other critical care for animals; and

WHEREAS, many veterinary technicians work within shelters, stables, and reproductive facilities to ensure that animals are being treated fairly; and

WHEREAS, National Veterinary Technician Week is an opportunity to thank veterinary technicians and honor their commitment to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for animals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 11-17, 2015, as NATIONAL VETERINARY TECHNICIAN WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
