National Prosthodontics Awareness Week


WHEREAS, the Virginia section of the American College of Prosthodontists advocates for the valuable role that prosthodontists play in dental health care; and

WHEREAS, prosthodontists diagnose, treat and replace teeth in order to restore and maintain the functionality, comfort, and appearance of their patients dental health; and 

WHEREAS, the American Dental Association recognizes prosthodontists as dental specialist with two to three years of additional training after dental school in the prevention and treatment of tooth loss; and

WHEREAS, tooth loss can occur because of decay, gum disease, traumatic injury, cancer, or wear; and

WHEREAS, the American College of Prosthodontists’ mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care, work closely with other dental professionals to provide the most comprehensive and effective treatments, and improve the quality of patients’ lives; and

WHEREAS, National Prosthodontics Awareness Week is an opportunity to recognize the important role prosthodontists play in our communities and our oral health;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize April 3-9, 2016, as NATIONAL PROSTHODONTICS AWARENESS WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
