National Capital Philanthropy Day 2015


WHEREAS, throughout the history of our Commonwealth important needs have been filled by volunteers who work for the good of others; and 

WHEREAS, these individuals, volunteers, corporations, and foundations have demonstrated a strong commitment to improving and strengthening the efforts of non-profit organizations in the Commonwealth through philanthropic means; and

WHEREAS, November 17, 2015, is the 14th Annual National Capital Philanthropy Day, led by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Washington D.C., Metro Chapter (AFP-DC); and

WHEREAS, AFP-DC is celebrating its 50th Anniversary on the 14th Annual Capital Philanthropy Day,

WHEREAS, National Capital Philanthropy Day is dedicated to celebrating the Greater Washington region’s commitment to philanthropy;

WHEREAS, on November 17, 2015, more than 400 individuals including business leaders, philanthropists, volunteers, and media will gather to recognize the hard work of individuals in the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., area for their philanthropic contributions; and

WHEREAS, National Capital Philanthropy Day is an opportunity to recognize the role philanthropy plays in strengthening the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize November 17, 2015, as NATIONAL CAPITAL PHILANTHROPY DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
