Mother's Day


WHEREAS, during our first moments in this world and throughout the rest of our lives, mothers share with us an unbreakable bond; and

WHEREAS, it is important to celebrate the unique bond between mother and child, and to honor the dedication of mothers to their families and communities; and

WHEREAS, mothers have an enormous impact on their children, and are instrumental in helping children reach their full potential; and

WHEREAS, mothers act as role models to children, with their unwavering commitment, drive, compassion, and leadership; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth is strengthened by the numerous community organizations that promote responsible motherhood and celebrate the extraordinary caretakers, mentors, and providers who have made us who we are; and

WHEREAS, Mother’s Day is an opportunity to pay special tribute to the many Virginia mothers those at home and those currently serving overseas in the Armed Forces, who are unable to share this day with their families;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize May 10, 2015, as MOTHER’S DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
