Manufacturing Appreciation Week


WHEREAS, Virginia’s vibrant and globally competitive manufacturing sector contributes to a stronger economy in the Commonwealth; and  

WHEREAS, manufacturing supports economic growth by creating jobs and adding value to raw materials through the application of worker’s skills and investment in technology, tools, and energy; and

WHEREAS, manufacturing produces $40.1 billion in annual economic output, and employs 230,600 Virginians; and

WHEREAS, manufacturing accounts for almost 87% of Virginia’s exports; and

WHEREAS, Manufacturing Appreciation Week is an opportunity to encourage the growth and prosperity of manufacturing, and raise public awareness of its importance to Virginia’s economy;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 13-17, 2014, as MANUFACTURING APPRECIATION WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
