Epilepsy Awareness Month

WHEREAS, the health and safety of all Virginians is important to the happiness, prosperity and well-being of our Commonwealth’s families and communities; and

WHEREAS, epilepsy is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures; and

WHEREAS, epilepsy has many possible causes, including illness, brain injury, and abnormal brain development, though in many cases the cause is unknown; and

WHEREAS, those affected by epilepsy experience the disorder in a variety of different ways, dependent upon the severity of the person’s condition and the impact it has on one’s life; and

WHEREAS, it is critical that those affected by epilepsy have access to quality, affordable care, and that research continues to be strongly supported;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize November 2015 as EPILEPSY AWARENESS MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
