Early Intervention Month 2016


WHEREAS, Virginia’s children are among our most valuable and vulnerable citizens, and they require proper care and attention; and

WHEREAS, some children are born with developmental delays and disabilities, and it is crucial that these children receive immediate intervention treatment; and

WHEREAS, the Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia provides early intervention services to the more than 16,000 infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, partnerships between state agencies, physicians, other private care providers, and families with disabled children, support early intervention services that enhance development and promote well-being; and

WHEREAS, it is important that Virginia’s citizens know about the early intervention services available for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities so families can take every opportunity to improve the lives of their children;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize May 2016 as EARLY INTERVENTION MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
