Christmas Day 2015

WHEREAS, each year during the holiday season, we spend time with friends and family, observing traditions, decorating our homes, and spreading joy; and

WHEREAS, on Christmas Day, millions of Virginians attend services to celebrate the birth of Jesus; and  

WHEREAS, Christmas is an opportunity to reflect on our blessings and be mindful of our responsibility to make sure that all Virginia’s families and individuals have access to healthy food, shelter, and healthcare; and

WHEREAS, we thank our men and women in uniform who are serving our country, away from their families this holiday season; and

WHEREAS, all Virginians are encouraged to give back to those in need, and to spread the holiday spirit in their communities; and

WHEREAS, we join Virginians across the Commonwealth celebrating this Christmas Day December 25, 2015;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize December 25, 2015, as CHRISTMAS DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
