Children's Vision and Learning Month 2015


WHEREAS, all children deserve the opportunity to learn and achieve their full potential; and

WHEREAS, as children in Virginia prepare for the start of another school year, many will begin their studies with undiagnosed or untreated vision problems; and

WHEREAS, vision problems are a significant issue among children and can affect their performance in the classroom; and

WHEREAS, it is estimated that as much as 80% of a child’s learning is visual; and

WHEREAS, public awareness about learning-related vision problems is necessary to ensure that young people receive the prompt vision treatment they need to enhance their lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize August 2015 as CHILDREN’S VISION AND LEARNING MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
