Child Support Awareness Month


WHEREAS, Virginia’s Division of Child Support Enforcement, in the Department of Social Services, serves more than 300,000 dependent children through its family-centered customer service approach; and

WHEREAS, the Division of Child Support Enforcement promotes parental accountability so that children can obtain reliable support from their parents; and

WHEREAS, the Division of Child Support Enforcement will continue to advance innovative ways to enhance its services in areas such as fatherhood initiatives, community partnerships, visitation programs, increased payment reliability, and increased timely payments; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth is committed to ensuring that the children of Virginia have the financial security and family support that they need to grow and succeed; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth joins the nation in recognizing August as Child Support Awareness Month;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize August 2016 as CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
