Child Support Awareness Month 2015


WHEREAS, Virginia’s Division of Child Support Enforcement, in the Department of Social Services, serves more than 400,000 children under the age of 18 through its family-centered customer service approach, which promotes parental accountability so that children can obtain reliable support from their parents; and

WHEREAS, the Division of Child Support Enforcement will continue to push for innovative ways to enhance their services in areas such as fatherhood initiatives, community partnerships, awarding sub-grants for visitation programs, increase payment reliability, and reduce or prevent the accumulation of payments in arrears; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth joins the nation in recognizing August as Child Support Awareness Month, and conveys  its commitment to ensuring that the children of Virginia have the financial security and family support that they need to grow and succeed;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize August 2015 as CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
