American Music Month

WHEREAS, music, often described as the universal language, is one of the great arts; and

WHEREAS, the value of music is recognized as a source of enrichment for our lives, bringing people from different places together; and

WHEREAS, the annual Parade of American Music, sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs, is featured throughout the month of November to give due recognition to America’s music traditions and to encourage and support American musicians; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs is a not-for-profit organization, under the umbrella of the National Federation of Music Clubs, which is chartered by Congress; and

WHEREAS, the federation’s mission is to foster and promote American music and American musicians, and to be a community advocate for the cause of good music; and

WHEREAS, during the month of November we recognize the rich cultural diversity of all performers, teachers, and lovers of music in Virginia and around the world;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize November 2015 as AMERICAN MUSIC MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
