50th Anniversary of Old Dominion Job Corps


WHEREAS, Old Dominion Job Corps plays a critical role developing employees for businesses and industries throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Old Dominion Job Corps provides no-cost education and career technical training that aids young people ages 16 through 24; and

WHEREAS, the Job Corps Program’s mission of teaching eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent contributes to a more competitive workforce and stronger economy in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Old Dominion Job Corps provides a variety of skills training for individuals, including training in academia, medicine, construction, and automotive repair; and

WHEREAS, over the last 50 years, Old Dominion Job Corps has improved the lives of thousands of Virginians by setting them on a path for successful careers;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize August 18-22, 2014, as the 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF OLD DOMINION JOB CORPS in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
