2017 National Veterans and Military Families Month

WHEREAS, November is National Veterans and Military Families Month; and

WHEREAS, nearly 300,000 active duty military members and their families are stationed in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Virginia is home to approximately 800,000 veterans and has one of the fastest growing veteran populations in the nation; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia has the largest percentage of women veterans and veterans under the age of 28; and

WHEREAS, we recognize and honor these veterans and all military families who support our armed forces, as they protect our country from harm; and

WHEREAS, we respect and acknowledge these sacrifices veterans and military families make on a daily basis; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia calls upon all of its citizens to show their support for veterans and military families during the month of November;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize November 2017 as NATIONAL VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
