2017 National Respiratory Care Week

WHEREAS, the health and safety of all Virginians is essential to the happiness and well-being of the Commonwealth’s families and communities; and

WHEREAS, respiratory diseases are among the most common medical conditions in the United States; and

WHEREAS, since 1982, the American Association of Respiratory Care has been the sponsor of National Respiratory Care Week; and

WHEREAS, during this week, respiratory care professionals across the country host activities, motivate patients, educate individuals, and inspire today’s youth to enter the respiratory care profession; and

WHEREAS, respiratory care practitioners offer specialized treatment to patients diagnosed with respiratory illnesses including lung cancer, bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma; and

WHEREAS, services provided by respiratory care practitioners help their patients experience a healthier quality of life; and

WHEREAS, respiratory care practitioners are dedicated health care professionals committed to reducing the suffering and recovery times of patients experiencing respiratory problems; and

WHEREAS, National Respiratory Care Week is an opportunity to celebrate the health care professionals dedicated to treating and preventing all types of respiratory illnesses;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 22-28, 2017, as NATIONAL RESPIRATORY CARE WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
